WITH DR. BEN WILLIAMS

Join yoga scholar and fellow practitioner, Dr. Ben Williams, for an exploration into the nature of consciousness. Ben will describe how careful study of a profound tantric teaching, Kṣemarāja’s commentary on Śivasūtra 1.1, Consciousness is the Self, reveals an extraordinary vision of reality and humanity’s place within it.

Ben is currently editing and translating Kṣemarāja’s commentary on the Śivasūtras in collaboration with Dr. Mrinal Kaul. For the past four years Ben and Mrinal have collected copies of over 60 manuscripts of this text from archives across India and Europe, which will be the basis for their forthcoming study and translation.

In this workshop, Ben will share Kṣemarāja’s view on the nature of self and consciousness, and then facilitate a collective philosophical inquiry on the implications of this liberating perspective in light of contemporary worldviews.
